About Us
Serim Research Corporation
develops, manufactures, and markets test strips based on Serim's
dry reagent technology. Technology created and developed at our facility
includes colorimetric chemistries, reagent/membrane impregnation,
and test strip fabrication.
In business since 1988,
our fully integrated Research & Development/Manufacturing Center
is located in Elkhart, Indiana in a new, state-of-the art, 32,630-square-foot,
FDA-registered facility certified to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 (specific
for medical devices).
Our

About
Our Products
All Serim Test Strips are based on Dry Reagent Technology whereby all
reagents necessary for analysis are combined in a single indicator
pad. Serim Test Strips replace complex and cumbersome, multi-step wet
chemistry colorimetric assays. Serim Test Strips provide the advantages
of being able to analyze samples at the source (point-of-use) using
a simple procedure that can be performed with little or no special
equipment and avoids the inconvenience of storing, handling, and mixing
liquid reagents.
Each test strip is comprised
of an indicator pad mounted onto a non-reactive plastic handle. The
indicator pad consists of an absorbent material that is saturated
with a solution of one or more chemicals. The indicator pad is dried
and then mounted onto a non-reactive plastic handle to form the test
strip. The plastic handle provides a convenient means for the user
to hold the test without touching the indicator pad. The test strips
are stored in a desiccated bottle until ready for use.
When the test strip is
dipped into the solution being analyzed, the indicator pad absorbs
the sample. The chemicals in the indicator pad are solubilized and
react with the substance being detected. The end result is a color
change, proportional to the concentration of the substance under
analysis. Results are determined by matching the color on the indicator
pad to the color blocks provided. Some tests are "yes/no" tests
where any color development on the indicator pad indicates a value
above a specific target.
Currently, Serim Test Strips
are used to test for the presence of disinfectants and water quality
in thousands of dialysis centers worldwide.

Other test strips are
used to ensure that High Level Disinfectants, reused extensively
in freestanding and hospital-based surgical units, remain at the effective
concentration as determined by the disinfectant manufacturer. Industrial applications include water industry
testing and any situation where disinfectants are used in industrial
processes.

Serim also offers the PyloriTek
Test Kit for presumptive identification of Helicobacter pylori infection
in gastric biopsy. (H. pylori is the cause of about 80% of
all peptic ulcers.) PyloriTek was the first H. pylori test
considered simple and accurate enough to merit and receive a CLIA
waiver.

Serim's newest product line, Food Safety and Sanitation,
includes tests for monitoring sanitizers and disinfectants used in
numerous industries; food and beverage, agriculture, hospitality.
Serim
Test Strips and other products are sold under our own label and the
private labels of the many market leaders we serve.
